Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born 1 June 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis can be described as the female version of Alan which is her father's birth name. Her mother's name is Georgia and she has two brothers, Chad and Wade (Alanis"Twin). She started playing the guitar and piano when she aged 21. In 1986, Alanis released a single titled Fate Stay With me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Her albums were recorded as a dance-pop performer throughout Canada: Alanis (1991) and the album Now Is The Time (1992). She relocated to Toronto when she was 18 and started working with music and writers, but these collaborations did not work. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she chose in 1994. Glen had previously worked alongside Aretha Frankin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. Then she moved to LA aged 19. In June of 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available via Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis discovered a method of recording songs that were very personal and autobiographical. JLP has sold over 30 million copies across the world. This album has been the most popular female album as well as the 3rd greatest selling album of ever. The singer was in a state of emotional conflict (she thought about not recording an album) and took a tour to India. Alanis Alanis Alanis
